And now, to all the whining idiots up there, let me repeat: every single armor crafter offers a version that DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY RARE MATERIALS AT ALL. The max. armor for the rit costs like 100 cloth and 750 gold a piece. It has been designed for all the cheap noobs out there and has the same armor rating and energy bonuses as the real thing.

There are a lot of differences for factions PvE compared to prophecies...

As for people telling you to farm.. welcome to the sad truth of guild wars, the economy is not for new players... It's you and the trader for a month or so

I've found it's easier to save up for armor than it is to wait for those items to drop.

You may get new "Exotic" armor from an exotic armor crafter in Cantha. He will sell you a specially skinned (Max Armor) armor peice in return for, I beleive, cloth and silk (+1.5k). I found this to be the cheapest skinned armor for it's looks and purpose since silk is so cheap right now. The location is near a dock southwest of the Marketplace just southwest of where it will say Wajjun Bazaar. Best of luck!

A Seitung set requires 16 monstrous claws.

And these armors are only 45. I can't wait to see what they might be later. In a year of playing the game, that's 1/3 of my total ever salvaged steel ingots, 1/2 of my ever leather squares and well... I've only ever gotten 3 monstrous claws. And that's expert salvaging pretty much everything Jungle and beyond. How the @$& is this suppsoed to be purchased, ESPECIALLY by someone who hasn't had months of farming in Prophecies behind them?
Buy the plain Canthan, Shing Jae, or Seitung armor. They require 0 steel ingots, leather squares, or monstrous claws. They cost half the gold too.
Quit whining and pay attention.

Exotic is for Rits & Assassins; otherwise it reverts to "Tyrian" armour...

save up tbh

never hurt me, takes time but when u finally buy that armour and you think

"I look so damn sexy/hard/godly/amazing [u pick]" u will realize that it was worth it

in was sitting on 100k+ in debt for my FoW armour and when i finally payed it off i had about 80k left ¬_¬ since then i have bought 15k druids armour for my ranger, but it's all worth it cos now she looks damn sexy, i like my chars to look nice =]

I plan on buying 15k armour for my Warrior [another set - gettin 15k kurz]
15k armour for my ritualist [15k kurz]
a new set for my monk [1.5k or 15k kurz]
not to mention my mesmer and assassin when i make them

its gnna be hard to save up all that money but so long as u set targets

"Today i will make ...k"

you can make it, just focus on what u want to buy. Dont try and get armour for all your characters at once you wont make it.

Thats how i managed it for my FoW and now my necro looks ace =]

hope that helps =]

Personally i dont think its 2 expensive at all, the armour gives you something to aim for money wise or farm and save up for. i bought my 1.5k Luxon which i love and got the jadeite myself. i think the prices are good because all the runes are so damn cheap now. plus compared to like 'epic' armour in WoW its so much cheaper and easier to get.

just work for it, thats why its there.

Steel and Leather arn't that rare. To make up for the fact you get to lvl 20 darned fast in this game, I assume they made the armor more expensive to compensate.

They seriously increased the money you get and the quality of drops in Factions. Although I had a load of stuff in storage, I didn't have to use any of it when I made an assassin and bought armour. Every time I needed to buy armour, I already found I had enough gold and salvage items to make every piece, just from my pickups. The Seitung Harbour armour was very cheap in my opinion

Monstrous items are extremely common in Afflicted drops and cheap at rare trader .. something like 200-300 a piece
u can easily get steel from salvageable armors/weapons +-4 on a highly salvageable blue item

u can get yer 1.5 armor just by selling a good drop or a mini pet that are sold easily atm .. a minipet sale ll buy all armors u need for an account
or just salvage a perfect mod on a gold item..

Monstrous Claws, when in stock, are 750 each. You need about 32 for a full set of armor, that's 24k + 7.5k for the armor. Not exactly cheap.

Armor is more expensive.

I personally think it was to compensate for the Ch1 accounts that have been saving for it.

Anyway - NEVER buy stat'ed armor that isn't max AL. I always use either collectors or the cheap stuff at the crafter until the 1.5k armor.

Compare like ~70 Bolts of Cloth to ~70 bolts of cloth + leather sqaures or +steel ingots. The first is practically free compared.

And beleive me, nothing before you can get to Kienieg Center is going to require you to want those extra stats on the armor.

(BTW, once off the island, you can run directly to Kienieg Center yourself - theres only 1 group of enemies on the way, and they are usually fighting guards so you can run past). You basically will stay in that 45 AL armor for all of 1 mission and 2 quests max.

You can stay in 15 AL armor until you can get armor on the mainland. One of my guildies stayed in the started (5 AL) armor until the mainland, hehe.

Cloth drops like candy from most enemies. 15 pieces of cloth is a very common drop anymore.

Why are you wasting extra money/resources on armor that isn't max simply because you want those insignificant bonuses? Either get it from the collectors or buy the cheapest set that doesn't require additional materials. This system has been in place since late beta. Nothing has changed.

I guess you'll be really upset when you discover that there's actually armor that requires 15k, 150 hides, 15 silk, and 30 amber or whatever the cost is for Fissure of Woe armor (where one of the materials sells for ~5k each). Did I mention they offer no better defense than Kaineng Center?

Or give it another week or two for the materials prices to settle back down to normal.
